The prisms are also coated with the new Leica Highlux System, a newly developed mirror layer which increases light transmission considerably and gives clearer definition in the distance. In addition, the improved optical and mechanical configuration markedly reduces stray light. the Leica Ultravid 8x42 are dry nitrogen filled, waterproof to 5m and have a close focus of c.3.1m.
